Somewhat bizarre and at the same time touching, is to find the ashes of a man, in a hole in the wall at Johnnie Fox’s Pub, the highest pub in Ireland.
Patrick J. Gaffney rests in a bottle in one of Dublin’s most beloved and famous pub’s, visited by statesmen, film and stars and even the odd astronaut. One of his lifelong dreams was to journey to Ireland and see Johnnie Fox’s. But so it never happened in life and instead a friend brought his ashes, which is now on display at the pub .
Better is to see the pub in real life, with it’s many trinkets and paraphernalia from years gone by, making Johnnie fox’s Pub one of the most “Irish traditional” in Ireland including real saw dust on the floor. The food and drink here is a bit pricey but excellent. And of course you find a good atmosphere and the Irish craic in any of the pub’s many rooms.
