From the Airport to Barcelona
If you fly to the central El Prat airport there are shuttle buses that take about 20-30 minutes to downtown, about 5 € each way. Or flying in to Girona with Ryanair take the airport bus to the bus station in Barcelona, Estacion Nord, takes about 1.5 hours and cost12 € one way.
The city’s black and yellow taxis are everywhere and are quite cheap to use. Expect up to a two euros add-on at night time and additional allowances if you use the boot. Green light on the roof means free taxi.

Barcelona’s metro is the easiest way to get from point A to point B unless you are able to figure out how buses work. The metro is punctual, clean and efficient. A one way ticket, also applies at the local buses, costs 1.45 euro.

Rent a Car
The very best way to get around in the city centre is by foot. The city centre is quite small and walking distance between the main sights is rarely more than half an hour. You will also see many things you would otherwise miss out on the subway. All the streets have sidewalks, and motorists accustomed to map reading tourists in the middle of the road.
